In Australia, crocodiles are farmed for their meat, skin and bones. Golden 8 harvests its oil from the fat by-product that is usually discarded and distils it into a potent oil for cosmetic use.
According to Robson, crocodile oil has a host of skin-loving and wound-healing benefits, making it the ideal ingredient for sensitive eczema-prone skin.
It also contains naturally occurring anti-microbial peptides, which she points out is the reason why wild crocodiles are able to heal their skin in dirty environments quickly.
Even though the product derived from an animal source, the company places a high priority on sustainability and conservation.
“The crocodile industry is quite incredible. It’s part of the best incentive-driven conservation programme in the world that also supports indigenous communities,” said Robson.
