An upcoming health and beauty event in the US will award a leading skin care expert with a lifetime achievement prize for his contributions to the cosmetic industry and new product development.

The 11th Annual HBA​ (Health & Beauty America) and PCITX (Personal Care Ingredients & TechnologyExpo) - taking place on 30 September 2 October in New York - will recognise the work of Dr. Albert Kligman, Emeritus Professor of Dermatology at the university of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, for his work and research on dermatology, skin care and anti-ageing advancements.

Dr. Kligman, director of the Aging Skin Clinic at the hospital of the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, was responsible for its inception in the late 1978 and invented Retin-A for acne in 1978 and for photoageing ten years later.

Dr. Kligman's studies include disorders of the hair, acne, fungus, and bacterial infections, poison ivy, dry skin, photobiology and ageing. Dr. Kligman has authored over 700 scientific publications and co-authored a work on acne with Dr. Gerd Plewig entitled: "Acne: Morphogensis and Treatment". He has also co-authored books on cutaneous ageing and the biologic effects of light.
