Smart packaging and digital innovation: rising stars showcased at PCD
The recent packaging show dedicated to beauty and personal care solutions showcased some emerging tech solutions that are causing a stir.

Here, we present a roundup of some of the key players.

WooDoo

WooDoo is a cleantech player that has created ‘bionic wood’. Its patented tech follows over half a decade of research, and consists of a new wood material: waterproof, 300% more stiff, fire-retardant and translucent.

Based on the circular economy principles, this material is “about to make a change in the construction industry, tackling tomorrow’s zero net carbon cities,” according to Climate KIC.

In presenting at ADF&PCD, WooDoo made clear it is also looking to offer packaging solutions for beauty players looking to make a sustainable shift.

Packitoo

Packitoo aims to reinvent the way companies develop and source their packaging.

It is a sourcing platform for all types of packaging, including boxes, shopping bags, labels, bottles, gifts & premiums, cardboard, paper, glass, metal, fabrics,

The model works by linking brands with packaging suppliers, as a B2B (business to business) portal.

MyPack Connect

MyPack Connect aims to offer a unique customer experience via connected packaging and the user’s smartphone.

Using packaging recognition technology, MyPack Connect is able to turn physical packaging into a digital display via the its app technology in a user’s smartphone.

Brands can use it to share any content and marketing updates, explains the company, which says it harnesses the Internet of Products (IoP) for its technology.

To enjoy the connected and customised packaging experience, just upload your current packaging visuals onto MYPACK CONNECT database and associate relevant content to them,” the company’s site says.
